There are times in life when it can be difficult to cope and when there is no one close to us that we feel will understand our issues and feelings in a helpful way. Counselling is for anyone who would find it helpful to talk to someone in confidence about their worries or concerns and to explore their feelings.
I offer a calm, safe and compassionate setting in which to explore anything that is on your mind. I approach the counselling process in a client centred way enabling you to work at a comfortable pace. I believe that each person is unique so I use an integrative approach which draws on different theoretical models to suit the client’s needs and this includes person centred, psychodynamic and CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy). By having a safe supportive space in which to explore your feelings it is possible to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, life’s events and relationships often resulting in making long lasting changes for the better.
My counselling experience includes:
- Anger management
- Self worth
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Separation and Divorce
- Illness and disability
After a free initial half hour introductory chat my charges are £45 for a 50 minute weekly session payable after each week. We will agree a contract which is open ended giving the control to you as to when you wish to finish. It is usual to start by agreeing to 6 sessions to build up a rapport. Regular reviews of how things are going will be built into the sessions to enable you to recognise what you have achieved and what you would like to focus on.
